Montana Christian College adds to its leadership team by employing Joe Wooddell as Vice President of Advancement and Professor of Philosophy. He leaves an 18-year tenure at Criswell College in Dallas.
“Dr. Wooddell fills a strategic function for Montana Christian College,” said Marvin Jones, president of MCC. “To the best of my knowledge, he is the first financial developer in our 49-year history. This is a hallmark and a turning point for us.
Wooddell has a proven track record of advancement. “He comes to us with vast experience as a fundraiser and academic professor,” Jones said. His resume is outstanding, his personality is hospitable, and his character and virtue are godly. I am delighted to have Dr. Wooddell on the MCC team.”
Meeting personally with donors at all levels, Wooddell raised millions of dollars in support for Criswell College. He also served in a variety of other roles, including Vice President of Academic Affairs, Professor of Philosophy; Program Director for B.A., Philosophy, Politics, and Economics; and was vital in maintaining the school’s accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
“It is a joy and a privilege to serve Christ at Montana Christian College. I have met many of MCC’s faculty, staff, and administrators over the past few weeks,” Wooddell said. “It is obvious to me that they all love God and His Word, that they love MCC and its students, and that, by the Holy Spirit’s power, are making a difference for the Kingdom of God in Montana and around the world.”
Montana Southern Baptist Churches support MCC primarily through the Cooperative Program. Wooddell will broaden the school’s donor base by sharing the vision articulated by Jones and the Montana Christian College’s Board of Directors.
Wooddell said he is “excited to be part of something so biblical and uncompromising, and to know that whatever way the culture goes, Dr. Jones and the Board will always be committed to truth.”
“As the darkness encroaches, the light of the Gospel shining through Montana Christian College is growing brighter,” he said. “May God grant us supernatural strength and courage during these days. I am thrilled to be here!”
Wooddell holds a PhD (Philosophy of Religion) and Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; Master of Arts (Political Science) from University of Texas, Arlington; and Bachelor of Science (Music) from Liberty University.
“My friend Joe is a published author, deep thinker, and committed Christian,” Jones said. “More than fulfilling a practical role at the College, he elevates our credibility in the business community, augments our spiritual ministry, and brings superior academic credentials.”
“More than a fund raiser, Joe will be a friend raiser for the school,” Jones said. “I can’t wait for our Montana Southern Baptist family to meet him.”
