Refresh 2016

It has been a great summer! It has been so exciting to see all the ministry in our churches. Aren’t you glad we’re finally past COVID? I’m sure you’re exhausted, and now it’s time for all the Fall activities. You can do it!

And before the big snows come and the temperatures freeze the thermometers (just kidding…kind of), we’ll have an opportunity to get together for Refresh. Pastor Roger Dayton and the great staff and folks at Elevation Church in Billings will be hosting us this year. I think by the time we get to October, we’ll all be ready for a change of pace. Refresh will do just that.

We’re meeting on Thursday, October 6, and Friday, October 7. You can find the full schedule at https://mtsbc.org/refresh. You’ll see that we have a lot planned for those two days. First of all, you’ll see that we’ll hear a message from our convention president and board chairman, pastor Greg Payton. Greg has a true pastor’s heart. I know he’ll bring a challenging and encouraging message for us. In addition, Dr. Willie McLaurin will be with us. Dr. McLaurin is the interim president of the SBC Executive Committee. He is a true man of God. I know you’ll be blessed by his message.

Because there are so any things going on in Southern Baptist life right now, I’ve asked Dr. McLaurin to share with us during a breakout session what’s really happening and how our SBC leadership is responding. This is your opportunity to hear from someone who is truly in the know. You won’t have to rely on rumors or second-hand stories. Plan to bring your questions and get straight answers.

We’ll also have a lot of business to cover, from approving a 2023 budget to hearing from MTSBC ministry leaders and SBC ministry representatives. There are a lot of really great things happening in our state and in SBC life these days. I hope you’ll plan to attend and hear about them.

Denise is also planning to get our pastors’ wives together for a breakout session to minister to them. I know this will be a special time of encouragement and fellowship. Our pastors’ wives carry so much of the weight of ministry and have few opportunities to get together and be encouraged from God’s word and by each other. I’m praying that all of our pastors’ wives are able to attend.

On top of all of this, we’ll be led in worship by members of the Elevation worship team. They know how to lead dynamic worship. This will be a fantastic couple of days. I’m confident you’ll be blessed, informed, challenged, and encouraged. I hope you’ll make plans to join us for Refresh. You’ll be glad you came.
