Who We Are
MONTANA is considered a new work state meaning that it is a largely unreached mission field. Southern Baptists in Montana represent less than 1% of the population and Evangelicals number less than 10%. The geography itself is one of our greatest challenges as many communities, churches and pastors and their wives are isolated and are often measured by the hours it takes to travel to the closest Walmart. The climate is also challenging with temperatures as low as 35 below in the winter and exceeding 100 degrees in the summer.
The three greatest needs for Montana Baptists are strong and healthy churches that are reaching their communities and developing mature Christ followers, the planting of new churches where they are needed most, and reaching the next generation of ministry leaders in Montana.
If you sense a call to one of the “hard places” of North America, are of a rugged construction and have an adventurous spirit, Montana could be the place where God wants to use your life to make an eternal impact. Please prayerfully review our website and consider how you can be a part of this great mission we call Montana.

Right Beside You
We have staff members and volunteers across the state here to serve you. From Miles City, to Billings, to Helena, to Thompson Falls, our state staff are spread out across Montana. We are serving right beside you as bivocational pastors, lay-persons, and fellow servants of Christ.
Missions
Montana is a geographical wonder. We boast both Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks, prairie landscapes and over nineteen mountain ranges. We are the fourth largest state in land mass, ranking forty-fourth in population.
We have vast cultural differences in politics, religious affiliations, and living expectations. Montana has seven Native American Reservations. Tourism, agriculture, mining, oil production, and logging are the main industries. Professional pursuits include the numerous universities and colleges, as well as the major hubs of medical centers in Billings and Missoula.
The apostle Paul wrote to Corinthians in chapter 9 verse 22 - “I have become all things to all people, so that I may by every possible means save some.” Therefore, we highly value mission work: from the city, to state, to national, and international levels.
