Helena Valley Baptist Church (HVBC) is pleased to announce that Rev. Jason A. Rioux (pronounced Rio) has accepted the call to be our Pastor. He began his ministry with HVBC on January 1, 2020. The Pastoral Search Committee spent months praying, searching for and reviewing pastoral candidates before deciding that Bro. Jason was the candidate to present to Church body. The Church voted unanimously to call him as our Pastor on December 15th, 2019.
Bro. Jason is a Montana native and was raised in Red Lodge. He attended Red Lodge Baptist Church with his family during his youth and graduated from Red Lodge High School in 1997. In 1997-98, while attending Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia to become a Minister of Music, he surrendered to the long-time call of God to be a Minister of the Gospel. He then returned home to Montana where he attended and graduated from Yellowstone Baptist College (YBC), now known as Yellowstone Christian College, in Billings in 2002 with a Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Biblical languages and theology. In 1998, he was licensed to the Gospel Ministry by Red Lodge Baptist Church and in 2000, he was ordained to Gospel Ministry by Calvary Baptist Church, Laurel, where he was serving as Youth and Music Leader while attending YBC.
After graduation from YBC, Bro. Jason and his wife, Nichole, moved to Oregon in 2002 to further their education. In 2009, Bro. Jason received his Master of Divinity Degree with an emphasis in Biblical and Historical theology from Multnomah Seminary, Portland, where he also studied multiple years of Greek and Hebrew, and church history. In 2007, Nichole earned her Doctorate in Optometry from Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove. Their two sons, Isaac and Nathan, were born while they lived in Oregon.
Gladly following God’s call to return home to Montana, they moved to Helena in the late summer of 2018. Dr. Nichole Rioux is an Optometrist in Helena. Bro. Jason has been supply preaching for area Southern Baptist Churches since their return to Montana. They are both involved in the Treasure State Baptist Association and the Montana Southern Baptist Convention.
HVBC is thankful to God for leading Bro. Jason to us. We look forward to fruitful days ahead as we delve deep into God’s Word, the Bible, and grow the Church’s congregation through Bro. Jason’s leadership. Everyone is invited to come and join us. HVBC is located at 1315 Sierra Road East. Sunday services are: Sunday school at 9:30 AM and Worship Service at 10:45 AM.
