It’s exciting to see the different activities some of our MTSBC churches are using to reach their communities. They’re offering youth camps, sports camps, VBS, Backyard Bible Clubs, game night dinners, and many other unique outreach events to connect with people and share the gospel.
The Lord never intended for His people to be silent about the gospel. His command to His church was: “Go, therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you” Matt. 28:19-20a. How is that going for you? Do you feel like you’re doing all you can to be obedient to the Lord? Do you feel like Jesus would say you’re doing all you can?
You may not have many members, but you can still share the gospel. You may not get many results for all your efforts, but that’s not your part of the task. The Apostle Paul reminds all of us that we plant and we water and God gives the increase (1 Corinthians 3:6). When Denise and I were planting a church in Denver, we noticed that we often didn’t get the people we were trying to reach, but because we were out in the community and sharing the gospel, God brought us people to share with and to join the church in response to our gospel sowing.
The MTSBC is here to assist you to step up your work to fulfill the Lord’s command. We recently asked Jeff Hessinger to be our evangelism director for the state. You now have access to a man with stellar evangelism experience and expertise who can come train you and your folks to be more effective in your evangelism and who can offer suggestions for how to reach your neighbors with the gospel. Through our churches’ giving to the Cooperative Program and the Reach Montana State Missions Offering, we’re able to make Jeff available at no expense to you and your church.
Why not try something new this year? Maybe you haven’t seen many results from your previous efforts and you think it’s a waste of time. I can assure you that it’s never a waste of time to share the love of God through Jesus with those in need of Him. What hope do they have if you don’t tell them? Reach out to Jeff.
