Montana and Missouri Women Partnering

Montana Southern Baptist Women has some exciting news to share. On September 9-10, 2022, MPower was held in Huntley, Montana. Missouri WMU brought a team of 11 members.

The team taught training labs with preschoolers and children. The labs allowed those attending MPower to watch and learn how  Missions Discipleship materials can be used in our churches. We enjoyed watching the children interact with the teachers and learning how the children can learn about their place in missions. The team also brought resources and demonstrated those resources in a fast-paced, interactive table rotation session. The Missouri team also showed their servant hearts by helping in the childcare area and teaching the children.

The ladies attending the event also participated in a missions project by packing gift bags that the Valley Baptist Church will use to reach out to the Huntley and Shepherd school bus drivers, special education teachers, and students in the special education classes. The Missouri team also demonstrated other mission outreach activities that they have done. Lots of ideas were exchanged.

In addition to Missouri WMU, we heard from a panel that shared with us about ministries of the Montana Baptist Convention, church planting, Baptist Nursing Fellowship, and missions on the go. The teachings of Sandee Hedger also blessed us. In addition to all these activities, we worshiped and fellowshipped thanks to Valley Baptist Church.

Heather Keller, the National WMU Teen Consultant, led the teens’ event. The teen girls also presented a lab that allowed us to see a teen mission class and gave a theme interpretation.

Two historical events occurred at this year’s MPower. The first is a partnership that formed between MSBW and Missouri WMU. We are the first and only two states to have developed a collaboration between our state WMUs. The second is that the teen girls have decided to create a statewide Acteens group. They will meet over Zoom so that they can continue to learn about their place in missions. In discussions with Heather Keller, the state of Montana will have the first statewide group and our Montana group.
