This past summer, Explore Church, a new church plant in Missoula, took a serving mission trip to Alaska. Follow our daily updates of the trip written by Sacha Hasenyager!
Day 5

We started our day finishing construction projects at both campuses for the church, it was great to feel a sense of accomplishment for both buildings.

In the afternoon we went to a park to distribute evangelism bags. We had agreed to give out 50 bags, but to be honest, our hearts sunk when we looked inside and saw a water bottle, fruit snack, and flyer for the church. We knew that to give out bags like these in a Missoula park would not be received well. Our leader drove us into the park and we sat in trepidation, none of us desired to step out of the van. Mark led us in prayer asking God to open doors, give us boldness, and if it wasn’t what He wanted us to do that he would make it obvious.

Our group grabbed the bags and started to hand them out to anyone interested. People were so excited! They asked about the church, asked our team to pose for pictures, and even asked for more bags. Not a single person turned down a bag and we had to go back to the van for more! One woman started sharing with one of our team members that she had just given up on God and the church and that this gift made her think that she should take a second look.

That night our team was ecstatic at all God had done and our team session was our best yet.
