Miles City is one of the MTSBC focus cities in eastern Montana for church planting. Pastor Jeff Cahill of Valley Community Church in Miles City has been praying for a new church plant in this area for some time. He knows there are people that could be reached by a new church – a different church. Valley Community Church is the only MTSBC church in Miles City at this time. Following are some general facts that give a feel for the town.

Miles City is the 11th largest city in Montana, with a population of nearly 8,700. It is located in the southeastern region of the state. Founded in 1876, Miles City is rich in history. Almost all of the major attractions have a tie back to the history of the city.

  • The Range Riders Museum is one of the most recognized “Old West” Museums around.
  • The WaterWorks Art Museum houses works of the premiere artists in the country It is located in the original water works facility of Miles City. The Center’s sandstone and cement construction tells the real story of the past.
  • The Miles City Academy, formerly the Ursuline Convent, as well as the historic Main Street and Residential Districts, act as a draw to the visitors of Miles City.

Outdoor activities in Miles City are abundant. Fishing, hunting, bird watching, rock collecting, golf, or just taking a walk along the river can all be done within minutes of Miles City. The city also boasts of beautiful parks, recreation areas, and scenic vistas.

There are many great events held each year in Miles City. The World-Famous Miles City Bucking Horse Sale makes Miles City the rodeo capital of the world each third full weekend in May. One can also enjoy other events such as annual rodeos, outdoor concerts, the Beef Festival, a bluegrass festival, the Christmas Stroll, and other non-stop cultural events.

The greatest need in Miles City is for Christ to be proclaimed. With a strong church already there that has a kingdom-minded pastor who desires to reach the city with the gospel, would you join Valley and MTSBC in prayer for a planter to join what God is doing in this great Montana town?
